Work — Overview
An innovative and accessible Social Tourism Centre dedicated to personal and body health care, treatment, and support, while promoting the natural coastal resources.
The Solaria project won the architecture and engineering competition held by the Paolo Ponterio Foundation for a hotel complex in Santoregno, located in the municipality of Borgia, province of Catanzaro, Italy.
An acropolis without temples that inspires and enriches the lives of its visitors is characterized by a system of terraces and pedestrian paths. These pathways gradually lead to the discovery of the site from various viewpoints, gently guiding visitors from the lowest point to the summit.
This facility serves as a training and information center, available throughout the year for various activities and age groups, including those with disabilities.
It features a 5-star hotel that is sustainable and harmoniously integrated into the landscape, prioritizing the well-being of its guests.
The hotel offers 200 single and double rooms, as well as separate villas that can accommodate 3 to 6 guests.
Additional amenities include a spa, a conference and training center, a fitness center, sports facilities, a cycle path, and walking trails.
The central square serves as the convergence point of the hotel complex, organized around a large pool that extends from the spa facilities and incorporates Solaria’s rainwater collection and recycling system.
The expansive PIAZZA features multiple rooms with views, including the Beauty Centre, and a wide central pathway.
The hotel features stepped structures that blend into the landscape with green partitions. These partitions not only help reduce the building’s visual impact but also contribute to cooling the interior spaces in line with bio-sustainable principles. Some areas of the hotel are concealed by garden roofs that include small caves and tents for resting, dining, and various outdoor activities during hot summer days.
Beyond the structured part of the complex, and in continuity with the third terrace, Nature continues, now enriched by extensive organic cultivation of olive and citrus trees, as well as sports facilities and cycle paths.
