Work — Overview
An innovative and accessible space dedicated to stimulating public interest in scientific and environmental culture by promoting the mountain’s natural resources.
The museum is designed to redefine the cultural landscape.
With meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence, we create spaces that inspire, elevate, and enrich the lives of those who visit them and work inside.
A Unique Wooden Museum
The project was completed in 2015 and is located in the Municipality of Taverna, in the district of Catanzaro, Italy.
In the heart of the Sila Eco Park is a unique wood museum dedicated to environmental sciences, named “The City of Environmental Science – Fata: the Village of Elements.”
The museum is designed as a permanent dissemination centre that offers new educational opportunities and valorisation of the territory by creating an attraction pole aimed primarily at school tourism.
An innovative space designed to stimulate the public’s interest in scientific and environmental culture, while promoting the natural resources of the Sila Mountains.
The project pays homage to the natural site’s rich of trees while embracing the future, ensuring that the museum remains a beacon of inspiration.
Through Alfieri, we aspire to redefine architectural boundaries and usher in a new era of design excellence that leaves a sustainable mark on the built environment, while preserving the planet.
The design features a museum with a three-lobed floor plan and a structure that showcases all-wood portals converging at the geometric center of the building. Curtain walls made of wooden frames and glass panels are included for the infill. A series of wooden arches create a dense “brise-soleil”, providing protection for the southeast and southwest façades from sunlight.
A lens-shaped roof, clad in aged copper shingles, completes the overall composition..
